<aside> 💡 We’re past June 9, 2022, and Wordle is gone.

Still, this might be interesting to read through, as there are some techniques listed here that you can use to introspect saved website data on your iOS devices.

Do you have Wordle bookmarked to your iOS Home Screen? Have you been playing since before the New York Times took over?

Bad news: You’re probably going to lose your Wordle stats — your streak, your games won, everything — on June 9th, 2022. The New York Times is moving your game over to its new home.

This would be fine, but due to how iOS Home Screen bookmarks work, your old bookmark is going to stop working. Your stats live in there. And you can’t update it to the new site!

There’s details of what’s going on and why this is a problem, plus some good comments in the thread. Feel free to ask me questions on Twitter 🙂

😮 Oh no MY STATS

It’s okay, breathe! We’re going to fix this.

All you’ll need is your iPhone/iPad where you’re playing Wordle, a computer running macOS or Windows, and a Lightning cable to plug your device into the computer.

It’s a little bit technical, but just follow these steps closely. Here’s what we’re going to do:

  1. We’re going to connect up your phone to the computer, and use some tools you either have on your computer or can quickly download (I promise it’s safe — ask someone technical or look me up)
  2. We’re going to back up your old stats
